High Chair Quick Tips

1. Plenty of acquisitions will usher in the feel of a newborn to your home, but perhaps none as noticeable as the high chair. Stationed right in the middle of your kitchen, the high chair needs to be just right.

2. The standard high chair should have ample surface on which to eat or play, but have a pretty snug chair and wide flaring legs. Often they are convertible to accommodate a growing baby.

3. The classic design of the high chair hasn't really changed all that much over the decades. But if you want to go really retro, check out the Amish craft and mission high chairs. These are perfect for the traditional kitchen and dining room.

4. When it comes time to launch breakfast cereal across the kitchen table or smother surroundings in birthday cake, you're going to want a high chair with easy cleaning upholstery and surfaces. We've got that, but the rest is up to you.

5. Typically the high chair is constructed of some kind of metal with a hard plastic tray. These are perfectly functional, but if you want to step up the style, check out some of the hardwood high chairs with more modern designs and features.

6. For the young family with a growing baby, which we can safely say is most, a convertible high chair might be in order. These designs might run a little more expensive, but as many can be used from infancy through toddlerdom, many parents find these chairs well worth the investment.

7. We offer high chairs from a wide variety of reliable brands such as Graco, Peg Perego, Argington, Chicco, and Svan. That's not all, but it will get you started.

8. If you want the tops in infant designer goods, check out Svan high chairs. Swedish woodworkers, long known for their adeptness with bent wood, have designed a series of growth-friendly high chairs in an updated, mid-century style.

9. You're a parent, so you instinctually know what kind of safety features a high chair needs. But just to reiterate, you'd prefer a wider base, five-point harness over waist belt, and a center post to prevent your baby from sliding under the tray.
